From the CNN belief blog CNN’s Richard Allen Greene and Melissa Gray contributed to this report: Catholic Church defends male-only priesthood
Barring women from being Catholic priests is not the result of sexism 2,000 years ago, it’s because women cannot fulfill a basic function of the priesthood, “standing in the place of Jesus,” a leading British Catholic thinker argued Monday.
“This teaching is not at all a judgment on women’s abilities or rights. It says something about the specific role of the priest in Catholic understanding – which is to represent Jesus, to stand in his place,” argued Father Stephen Wang in a statement sent out by the Catholic Bishops Conference of England and Wales.
The bottom line is that Jesus chose 12 men – and no women – to be his apostles, Wang argues.
The choice was “deliberate and significant, not just for that first period of history, but for every age,” Wang says.
Men and women are equal in Christianity, he continues, but “this does not mean that our sexual identity as men and women is interchangeable. Gender is not just an accident.”
He compared the role of a priest to that of an actor playing King Arthur or British soccer star Wayne Rooney in a movie.
“No one would be surprised if I said I wanted a male actor to play the lead,” he said, admitting the analogy was “weak.”
But, he said, “it shouldn’t surprise us if we expect a man to stand ‘in the person of Christ’ as a priest, to represent Jesus in his humanity – a humanity that is not sexually neutral.”
Sorry Father Wang, it’s hard to believe that any god would be so personally vested in penises and testicles but apparently the Catholic Church clergy thinks so. Think it has anything to do with the fact that the Catholic clergy all sport penises? Nothing like keeping the good old boy’s club alive, huh? It’s one of those backwards-facing memes that have become so ingrained in the church culture that it’s hard to think otherwise if you are a member of the clergy. You know sort of like the earth is at the center of the universe and is only 6,000 years old yet this bit of chauvinism is going to be harder to disprove. Frankly, I don’t know how you can argue this nonsense with a straight face.
Upon reflection, this entire thought process does make sense because religion has always been about male domination and the control of other subordinate males. Frankly, it was never about personal salvation spirituality but it was more important in defining the “us versus them” mentality. Moreover; if you can control the males and the attached females come along for the ride and let’s face it, no man is into following a female religious leader. Why? Because regressive Mid-Eastern rationalizations, and I’m sorry but Christianity, Islam and Judaism are all cut from the same bolt of cloth, not only denies the validity of the women in our life but the universality of all life and its very existence in the cosmos. Women are subservient to men, I mean come on it’s god’s will, right?
What’s so weird about all these mid-east religions is how firmly rooted they are in the first millennium. And it’s not just the mid-east religions that are afflicted with is myopic male vision of the universe. Even a religion as enlightened as Buddhism has the male firmly ensconced in the role of the priest and the women as their hand-maiden nuns. It’s as if we didn’t know that there are other worlds out there sporting unknown life forms living out an existence totally independent of our own for billions of years. Why would we? Because we know on those other planets all of the alien spiritual authorities sport penises and testicles; let’s face it, maleness rules the universe! You’re right, I automatically assume that there is other life in the universe, and I assume that some of it is intelligent; in fact, I only question the presence of intelligent life here on earth.
Now don’t get me wrong I am fond of my own male genitalia and I really do enjoy the yin and yang of the male/female dynamic. However; I don’t feel my male organs have been the driving force in my own evolving personal spirituality. Honestly, I would argue quite the opposite and the recent Catholic Church scandals bears witness to my wayward reasoning! Yeah, I’m going to hell for thinking aloud this blasphemy but fortunately for me I never believed in the fairy tale nonsense of heaven and hell. Besides, the sexism of all major religions is a firm rejoinder to me that all religions are the province of earth-bound men and not necessarily that of the gods. Frankly, it would be more than fitting if we get the afterlife we envisioned during our lifetime; with penises or without!

Authors of Flores Girl: The Children God Forgot
With over 200,000 downloads Flores Girl:The Children God Forgot is now available as a free ebook novel on the iPhone!
This post has nothing to do with nothing associated with Flores Girl and the free ebook offer but I have a number of friends who have been job hunting so I always find myself always giving away resume pointers. So here are some key resume pointers that I have learned after working at several Fortune 100 companies:
- When you post your resumes to the major job boards make sure you consider the usage and the number of keywords in your resume. Keywords refer to Search Engine Optimization techniques that apply to the job boards as well as to web sites. For example, if you are into IM then add words like SERP. SEO, page rank etc. Many of the recruiters do their searches based on keywords alone. Phrases like “sales grew at a 10% plus CAGR compared to an industry standard 6% CAGR with a 500 basis points improvement in margin” is like…eh, well like honey to many recruiters. Of course, I’m not saying to you to make crap up but you get the idea! Use keywords so that hiring managers using electronic scanners to rank candidates based on a keyword search of applications can find your resume. Pepper keywords from the job posting into your resume as they apply to your experience. The terms employers search for most often are:
- problem-solving and decision-making skills (50 percent)
- oral and written communications (44 percent)
- customer service or retention (34 percent)
- performance and productivity improvement (32 percent)
- leadership (30 percent)
- technology (27 percent)
- team-building (26 percent)
- project management (20 percent)
- bilingual (14 percent)
- Brevity is not necessarily good; if you have had multiple positions and job functions but two page is almost always sufficient.
- If you are old or young no dates! Keep them guessing as to your age! It’s none of their business.
- Also, create flavors of your resume for targeting different positions and vary the keywords accordingly.
- Use power words as well like budget, direct reports, P&L responsibilities, dotted line, etc. Know the jargon of your target industry at least as well as the recruiter does.
- Go back to the boards every couple of weeks and update and save your resume. Recruiters often narrow their searches to recent resume activity.
- I estimate that it takes ten opportunities to get one good job offer for a newbie so that means multiple irons in the fire! Finding a job is almost a full time job in itself so if you aren’t spending hours searching that means you are planning on being lucky. I never had much luck other than what I made for myself.
- Add all appropriate certifications but nix the unimportant ones.
- Really, nobody gives a shit about your hobbies until you get past the recruiter then the social touches such as being a golfer or your into triathlons work.
- However, social networks such as Linked-In are useful! Get into a network after all everybody has at least one friend that seems successful and he or she can open doors or at least give you visibility.
- And that’s your main goal: get past the recruiter who usually knows less about the job than you do to get that interview!
- Practice the interview questions on the boards and know how to answer the tough ones such as why are you looking or why did you get laid off.
- Exercise to keep your mind fresh!
- Oh yeah and do a Homer and Google yourself! If you find some incriminating Facebook pages well clean your act up and remove those old photos with the stripper!
- Check your finances and your credit score out with one of the free agencies. Big firms want to know if you are in trouble nowadays and they will ask your permission to to check your background! And by all means say no but just be prepared to continue your job search.
- Sober up and stop taking drugs. Many companies will ask you to urinate in a cup! Party after you get the damn job.
Wow I got carried away! Remember, work the job boards, recruiters and social network sites as you go job hunting. You never know where the next opportunity will come from but working multiple leads in a depressed job market is always your best bet!
- This bit of annoyance is from the Digital Home:
-
- Electronic Arts isn’t wavering in its support of game developer DICE’s decision to let gamers play as Taliban members in the upcoming Medal of Honor.
- “At EA we passionately believe games are an artform, and I don’t know why films and books set in Afghanistan don’t get flack, yet [games] do,” EA Games President Frank Gibeau told game developer publication Develop Online this week. “Whether it’s ‘Red Badge of Courage’ or ‘The Hurt Locker,’ the media of its time can be a platform for the people who wish to tell their stories. Games are becoming that platform.”

(Credit: DICE)
Gibeau acknowledged that allowing gamers to play as a Taliban solider is a “creative risk,” but he won’t allow media outcry to “compromise our creative vision and what we want to do.”
- I have a real problem with this and it goes to the heart of the Muslim support for the Taliban in the west. Why? Because this type of role playing in Medal of Honor feeds directly into the existing pool of disaffected second-generation Muslim men in the west who are looking for any cause to believe in. Unlike their parents they don’t see the West as home because they feel so marginalized nor do they feel particularly lucky being here. Instead, they back any Anti-Western Muslim movement even one that thinks it’s okay to gas young Muslim school girls because the girls have the audacity to ask for an education. In their hateful minds collateral damage comes with the Anti-Western game.
-
- I bet Medal of Honor is a hit with young wannabe suicide bombers recruits while at the same time the game makers are laughing all the way to the bank. If we can contemplate blocking the building of a mosque we should definitely boycott this hateful Medal of Honor Taliban recruitment game!
-
- More bizarre thinking and this one is unintentionally from NetFlix on a movie recommendation: Fantastic Mr. Fox
because you enjoyed: Kill Bill: Vol. 2. Yikes nothing like a little family fare after some samurai carnage, huh?
Got this response to my enthusiastic post regarding Ubuntu and the lack of in the wild malware for that distro:
L M F A O of COURSE there are virus’s for linux OS’s how do you think dedi server’s get hacked? do you think twitter / facebook etc run on Windows? they are called rootkits by nature and there are 100’s of them out there. why do you think there are linux AntiVirus applications and rootkit scanners.NEWS FLASH they even have anti virus apps for Mac !!!! oO
Open your eyes and stop thinking like a child.
Well Sunshine it’s been a while since I have been called a child but I will take that as a compliment! This also gives me an opportunity to educate the newbies that have already been burned by malware.
I’m not sure if you have a job in the security industry or that you even use a Linux distro but I can assure the answer for me to both questions would be in the affirmative. You are correct when you say no system is a 100% secure but that is stating the obvious and shades of grey are important in life. Keep in mind that many of the malware exploits for Linux were targeted specifically for server editions of the distros and not desktops because like Dillinger said,”That’s were the money is!”
If you use a Linux Distro you might use Clam-AV and, yes, as you pointed out there is malware out there folks for Linux and, oh my gosh, they had ten new variants just this past month! Shocking! That said, AV-Test.org estimated that the number of malware samples totaled 22 million in 2009 and that number was to exceed 30 million variants in 2010. Almost all of this malware was targeted for Windows machines!
I think you can see where this is going folks! Ten malware variants for Linux and a million a month of new variants for Windows. So Sunshine I ask you this very simple question and be honest with me (and we will leave virtualization out of the picture because that’s the right way to do this). You have to go to a known malware forum where the script kiddies play with new payloads for their torrents, why because it’s your job! Now what would you feel safer visiting that site with? A fully patched PC Windows machine armed with the latest security engines and up to-date signatures or running Ubuntu without any AV software altogether? (And by the way I am not recommending unsafe computer practices but I am making a point here.)
If you said Windows now you’re being childish and I’m LMAO and that’s why they have 30 million different malware variants in the wild waiting for you. Because one day one will find you. It’s just the numbers and odds working against you and the odds are more in your favor with a Linux distro. Also, watch out because the next wild west will be exploits for those smart phone platforms and keyloggers are just the tip of the new malware iceberg.
By the way the correct way to visit these sites and, if you’re not willing to lose the comforting familiarity of Windows is to install Windows on VirtualBox with Ubuntu. The only thing you will lose is multiple core support.
I like Ubuntu by the way because of its very good driver support, easy install and fast performance on old equipment. Plus it’s free allowing you to break free of thse expensive Micrapple chains!
Cheers!
I wrote this blog over two years ago and there was a small firestorm surrounding my simple blog observation about the movie Expelled: No Intelligence Allowed not having any bootlegs in the market:
There is an easy way to measure the success of any studio movie and that is by measuring how many bootleg copies there are out there on the street. You know think Jerry Seinfeld and they range in quality from pre-studio release copies to poor copies taken by Kramer wannabes. In comparison, copies of Iron Man have already hit the street. Now, before some reader goes off on a rant, let me set the record straight about bootlegs. I actually go to the movies or rent from Blockbuster on a weekly basis and if it’s a visually stunning movie. buy a legit copy for my own personal use. Why? I am a video and audiophile with a home theater and enjoy the sights and sounds of a good movie. Bootleg copies of movies are often of wildly varying quality and in almost all cases they don’t meet my exacting standards. Yes, I am one of those weirdos that play with different brands of HDMI cables.
With that said, I have to be honest with you there was no way I was going to spend $20 and give that money to the ICR, Institute of Creation Research, to watch Expelled. Plus, I would never subject my wife to an hour and half of this drivel, her time is too precious and she would kill me if I did. Moreover, I don’t go to the movies alone, its has been a couples ritual for me during the entirety of my life and I am certainly not changing my ways for Expelled and Ben Stein.
So I have been looking for a bootleg copy to watch to make my comments on this blog but guess what? There are no bootlegs, the street vendors don’t have any copies nor is it available online as a valid torrent. I even noticed that most of the major movie critics have kept away from reviewing this masterpiece as well (no, your pastor doesn’t count!).
Why? Supply and demand baby, nobody wants to see Ben Stein drone on about the horrors of Darwinism save a handful of religious fundamentalists and conservative gadflies. The rest of the silent majority is too busy trying to figure how we can afford to fill our cars with a tankful of gas, thank you Mr. George Bush. The gross to date, a month after the release of Expelled, is just shy of $7.5 M, not exactly Michael Moore territory for a documentary. So much for a Creationist’s revolution in the United States and things will not fare much better for this crowd with the fall presidential election. You can already hear the yawns!
Well in two years two events have transpired. First, I finally sat or should I say laid down to watch this this Ben Stein snore fest and while there may not be any bootlegs there are some Expelled torrents are currently available at your local pirate sites. So, score one for Ben but I didn’t pay for the privlege of watching this propaganda! Not I didn’t illegally download the movie but I used my Netflix account. By the way, accompanying the torrents is usually some acerbic exchanges between true believers but frankly overall the movie was a flop in galvanizing the Christian fundamentalists in the scientific community; moreover, the Obama election was a big blow to their movement.
And my final review of the movie? Well, I feel asleep twice while watching this mess. It was boring and ponderous and the quick cuts to some vintage movie outtakes was tedious at best and not very amusing. Also, the movie’s argument about academic ostracism has long since been discredited and if Intelligent Design proponents feel like pariahs that is more a function of their poor science and not necessarily directed at their individual religious beliefs. Irreducible complexity, that is the idea that biological systems are too complex to evolve from simpler predecessors, is a poor argument no matter how many times it gets trotted out. Why? Basic genetic work has shown how the switching on and off of given genes can have myriad effects on biological systems, some good and some bad. Turning on retro features such as teeth in chick embryos is now doable and demonstrates s the basic elements of how genetics can drive evolution via natural selection.
Furthermore, Ben Stein’s argument that the Nazis used Darwinism as an excuse to kill Jews is a stupid, specious argument. There is little in Hitler’s past indicates that he was a big Darwin fan but rather he was an ardent anti-Semite that used his hatred as a rallying point among his German constituency. The Nazi concept of the master race had more to do with some pagan notions of Arayat supremacy that it had to do with either the natural selection of Darwinism or, for that matter, Christianity. One could easily argue that Christianity was more to blame for the Holocaust than science, but neither would be an accurate interpretation of what actually transpired in Nazi Germany.
In any case, this all seems so long ago and the movie’s failure to become an Intelligent Design rallying point combined with it’s pitiful $8 million in total revenue speaks volumes about the present state of the Creationist movement. Today the focus is on jobs and not religious fundamentalism in the US unless your Muslim and insistent on building a mosque near the WTC site. That will be the subject of another blog and you maybe surprised by my take on the issue.
Cheers,

Author of Flores Girl: The Children God Forgot
Great News! Flores Girl:The Children God Forgot is now available as a free ebook novel on the iPhone!
Great news! One of my goals was to up the download rate for Flores Girl:The Children God Forgot from a relatively sleepy 100 downloads a month to a 1000 downloads a month and the good news we are fast approaching that goal! For the Flores Girl podcast that 4000 downloads per month has been held steady for the past two years and we are rapidly approaching a 150,000 downloads. For those who haven’t read the novel Flores Girl is a science fiction adventure story about two scientists, Sarah and Richard, who unwittingly introduce a small tribe of prehistoric people living in isolation for a million years to the ultimate modern predator: humanity. This is their adventure, combining a clash of cultures, religious ardor with the oldest stories of all: the meaning of friendship and true love. This is the first of a trilogy of Flores Girl novels!
My next goal is far more ambitious for the free ebook: 10,000 downloads a month from www.floresgirl.com site! I better get some larger servers if I continue to pursue my goal of being one the better known self-published fiction writers!
I want to thank everyone who has downloaded the novel and I promise you that the sequel, The Scared and Profane, will not disappoint as Sarah learns the truth about her past and Richard’s fate! And for those of you who have emailed me I have not forgotten your free copy of the sequel!
Cheers,

This is something different for this blog and is more of a public service announcement. It has been all over the national news and the Internet including the Huffington Post that a bank robber dressed as Darth Vader robbed a local Long Island Chase bank branch in Setauket on Thursday July 22nd at 11:30am. Below are photos from surveillance cameras at the bank showing Darth Vadar in action.

Not so funny Darth Vader Robs Bank
Although everyone thought it was a gag the Darth Vader robber made it clear it wasn’t by yelling “This is not a joke!” To emphasize his point Darth Vader then proceeded to pistol whip one of the customers and terrorized the other customer by pointing his gun at their heads. That’s not exactly joke material yet the media continues to make light of an armed robbery by yukking it up with stupid Darth Vader jokes.
What they didn’t show or care to tell you about was how this creep terrorized everyone by being a big man with a gun. See the terrorized girl below huddling behind one of the customer counters hoping to escape the fleeing Darth Vader! Darth Vader by the way remains free having made his getaway by bicycle!

Darth Vader Terrorizes Bank Customers
This photo wasn’t going to be released until it was realized by one of the victims how the media was making a joke of a very traumatic situation. If something had gone very wrong instead of injuries the media would have been reporting someone’s death. There is no need to encourage copycat idiots who will see this Darth Vader fool as some sort of perverse folk hero. If you have a tip call1-800-220-TIPS and put this Darth Vadar punk behind bars before he kills someone.
Well I have grown bored of Steve Jobs and the Apple iPhone so I decided to go back to my old personal feud with America’s creationists. One of the favorite creationist’s canards is to trot out the old tired argument about Darwinism being a religion. This excerpt is from Radar at Radar Active: http://radaractive.blogspot.com/2010/07/how-to-be-intellectually-satisfied.html and is a bit of an oxymoron.
It is easy! Simply believe the Biblical account of human history and look at the actual findings of modern science without listening to the idiotic Darwinist spin. Life is obviously designed, the rock layers are a testament to the Flood and a fallen world would naturally be filled with sin and disease and pain and woe. Everything you see in Earth and in the heavens fits precisely what the Bible says. All a Young Earth Creationist needs to do is know his Bible and keep up with science and think critically. After all, a Darwinist has to start with a belief in random and inexplicable *poofs* that began and/or designed whatever there is that can be observed in the material world. We believe God created the heavens and the Earth. Darwinists have had to build a mythology over time.
Reminding on and all about the concept that Darwinism is a religion:
“There is a faction of scientists who exclude the supernatural from their possibilities not on the basis of science, but philosophy. Let’s hear from some of them:
“Darwin made it possible to be an intellectually- fulfilled atheist.” – Richard Dawkins, Darwinian apologist.
“I had motives for not wanting the world to have meaning; consequently assumed that it had none, and was able without any difficulty to find satisfying reasons for this assumption … For myself, as no doubt, for most of my contemporaries, the philosophy of meaninglessness was essentially an instrument of liberation. The liberation we desired was simultaneous liberation from a certain political and economic system, and liberation from a certain system of morality. We objected to the morality because it interfered with our sexual freedom.” – Aldous Huxley, philosopher, author, lecturer -(REPORT, June 1966. “Confession of Professed Atheist.”}
“We [scientists] have … a prior commitment to materialism [and] we are forced by our a priori adherence to material causes to create an apparatus of investigation and a set of concepts that produce material explanations… Moreover, that materialism is absolute, for we cannot allow a Divine Foot in the door.” -Richard Lewontin, “Billions and Billions of Demons,” The New York Review, January 9, 1997, p. 31.” (more to come)
For those of you who have perused this blog before, you are aware that there is something of an ongoing dialogue between me and a group of Darwinist commentators, with a few of my fellow believers in an Intelligent Designer joining the conversation on a regular basis since the beginning of 2006. My last post on Wednesday would be instructive to catch up to where the blog has gone. For those of you who are new, and to remind regular readers, this blog is primarily concerned with the subject of worldviews. Whether you can even conceive of it or not, you have a worldview. This definition will come from dictionary.com along with their cited sources…
“worldview.” n. In both senses also called Weltanschauung .
- The overall perspective from which one sees and interprets the world.
- A collection of beliefs about life and the universe held by an individual or a group.
Radar seems like a nice enough guy and he is in the tech industry so there is some common ground. That said, I do have a bone to pick with him. First, the standard definition of religion is:
1. a set of beliefs concerning the cause, nature, and purpose of the universe, esp. when considered as the creation of a superhuman agency or agencies, usually involving devotional and ritual observances, and often containing a moral code governing the conduct of human affairs.
It’s deceptive to confuse a so called worldview with religion. Darwinism, i.e. natural selection, is not a religion but instead is a scientific theory and thus as a scientific theory it can be readily disproved. That’s the nature of scientific theories. They hang around until someone or something disproves them or provides a better explanation. The Theory Evolution and Natural Selection have undergone numerous changes over the years particularly with the addition of genetics.
So how do you disprove Darwinism as a theory? Simple, to disprove evolution all you have to do is to find that elusive bunny rabbit fossil in a Precambrian rock. That single find alone throws out all of the underpinnings of Darwinism and we can discard everything the fossil record has told us to date. If you believe in a young earth then it would be caveman skeleton curled alongside a T-Rex skeleton. Simple and conclusive, right? But guess what, to date we have uncovered literally thousands of tons of fossils, a few of which I have found myself and nobody has found the smoking gun or should I say smoking bunny to disprove the theory evolution. Then again, as the creationists tell it, we are lying about the fossil record.
Assuming you can treat god as a scientific theory how do you disprove god?
You can’t, can you? I can’t even think of a single rational test to disprove god. I read some sophist attempts to debunk god and there are some neurological studies that define our affinity for the infinite but they really don’t work. Why? It’s a simple matter of faith and conversely you can’t prove the existence of god. And that ladies and gentlemen is the difference between a scientific theory and a religion. A belief in god is religion and requires faith whereas a belief in Darwinism or natural selection requires one to adhere to the rules of scientific theory. Darwinism has little to do with religious dogma.
Survival of the fittest and the theory of evolution fit the fossil record just fine. Sure there have been some surprises but our living planet has numerous fossil relics such as horseshoe crabs living alongside the latest naturally engineered species. Moreover; DNA research has added additional information to our knowledge of evolution. Yet the more evidence we find supporting the mechanism of evolution the more Americans as a whole insist on getting stupider about the subject and embrace Creationism as if it was some comfort soul food.
Here’s more from Radar: You see, if the Universe didn’t just *poof* into existence, if life didn’t just *poof*, if information and DNA and, well, we could be pointing out *poofs* all day long. A belief in Darwinism requires a suspension of common sense in favor of a myth. In fact, I believe there is far more evidence in favor of creationism than there is for Darwinism.
But that is difference between science and faith; one can be disproved the other can’t. Plus once again we have a misstatement of what Darwinism represents. Darwin makes no comment about the start of life; his theory simply provides a mechanism for natural selection and then the evolution of species. There is no concern about the start of life nor any commentary regarding the creation of the universe. Creationists think they have the answer to everything in god and they are always looking for complete answers in other theories and debunk them all if they come up short. However, that is the problem with ignorant lay people taking on scientific theory. They don’t want to play by the rules of the game and reject scientific methodology altogether.
What really amuses me is that the creationists have no problem embracing and using the very same technology created by scientific theory. I won’t get into the numerous medicines and foods that have been created by gene manipulation and no doubt have been consumed by creationists and non-creationists alike. What I find more amusing is how Quantum Mechanics Theory should be construed as a fundamental challenge to all religious thinking: at its core it basically disproved Einstein’s assertion that god doesn’t play dice with the universe and that there is randomness to events in the universe. In effect, quantum mechanics put an end to the old Newtonian deterministic universe that could be inherently controlled by a creator. This fact the creationists ignore as they blithely go about using the very same quantum technology in their PCs to blog about the heathen atheists.
Why do they ignore this challenge from Quantum Theory? Simple answer, the Bible does not mention particle physics so there is no context to have a debate within whereas it does mention creation via Adam & Eve. Or as Radar put it,” All a Young Earth Creationist needs to do is know his Bible and keep up with science and think critically.”
It would be fun to watch fundamentalists spin quantum mechanics and string theory but I think that is beyond their capabilities; plus that’s kinda of my point. We don’t need to continue the dumbing down of Americans now that George W. is finally out of office. Witness the OJ Simpson fiasco where the prosecution took for granted that the jury’s ability to understood DNA evidence when in fact most of the jury couldn’t spell DNA. Ignorance rules in America and politicos love to exploit stupidity particularly if it comes wrapped in a voting block.
The timing of this stupidity couldn’t come at a worse time. There is some scary stuff going on as biohackers play god with the genomes of different animals and, as for example, go about creating the blueprint for a living dino-chicken. I am not sure how creationists explain this away, but biohackers have already figured out how to turn on the genes that control the growth of teeth and scales in chick embryos. Now the prospect of dino-chick doesn’t exactly scare me despite the prognostications of Jurassic Park but biopunks playing with flesh eating bacteria ought to scare the hell out of any intelligent thinking person, Darwinist or not.
So while creationists and the average American keeping think god is behind the controls of our evolution some idiot bio-hacker, who desperately needs the favors of a girlfriend, is locked away in his room or in a corporate lab mucking away at the very engine of human evolution: our genes. In other words, as our politicans pander away to fundamentalist creationists groups and continue to dumb down America in our classrooms we are ignoring some serious ethical decisons that should be made regarding bioengineering. And, as with all ignorance, there will be a price to pay especially if one of these bio-punks suddently decides to become a Jihadist! But don’t worry you can bet that the creationists will blame the Jihadist on Darwin!
The iPhone 4’s so-called death grip has been “blown so out of proportion, it’s incredible.” So says Steve Jobs but Apple still plans on providing iPhone customers with free cases. Steve Jobs then went into an elaborate explanation during today’s call as to why the iPhone 4 has been the most successful product in Apple’s history with the fewest customer returns.

There are reports that Steve Jobs was aware of the iPhone 4 design flaw well over a year ago and decided to go ahead with the flawed release anyway. Appears Herr Jobs was so impressed with the design he decided that the phone function wasn’t really all that important after all. In case you have been living in a cave or just using your iPhone 4 to communicate with the outside world the new billion dollar plus iPhone 4 has a sleek antennae design that causes you to lose your signal when holding your iPhone 4 in a certain way.
When consumers complained to Apple Steve Jobs famously replied by email, “Just avoid holding it in that way,” he wrote. Apple was hoping the entire mess would go away but then Consumer Reports refused to give the iPhone 4 its recommendation and blessing citing the antennae design flaw (there are 3 separate antennaes in the iPhone 4). They then recommended, horror of all horrors, that people use duct tape to fix the flaw.
Talk about form over function! And that’s why I have been commenting so much because this entire fiasco is so indicative of a materialistic, consumer society that finds personal validation in the brand of electronics they use. Hell, it’s not like I’m a troglodyte. I use a Blackberry and rely on it for email, meeting info, contacts, texting and the occasional odd phone call. Hell, I even browse, take photos and once even listened to music on the damn thing. But it’s not the core element in my social life like the way Apple fantards treat the iPhone. Nor will I stand on line with the other tards for hours so I can posess my precious.
The only recommendation I can make is that Apple should come clean and do so very quickly. Otherwise, Apple will be joining the likes of Toyota and BP in terms of having prickly consumer perception issues to deal with in the years to come. And once you lose that it’s hard to regain.
